Uganda Announces 43% Discount on Gorilla Permits and Chimpanzee Trekking Permits
Have you ever thought of trekking mountain gorillas or chimpanzees but you were limited by high rates? Well, here is great news! Gorilla trekking or chimpanzee tracking in Uganda has become more and more affordable by the day than ever before after Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) announces a 50 percent discount on gorilla and chimpanzee permits to all tourists on Uganda gorilla safari.
Mountain gorilla and chimpanzee discounted permits 2020-2021
Gorilla and chimpanzee discounted permit start effective 1st December 2020 up-to 31st March 2021. The 50% discount on permits will translate into $400 per gorilla permit applying for foreign non-residents. This has been reduced from the original $700. Foreign residents stand a chance to enjoy a discount of $300 from the original price of $700. The East African Community citizens will now need shs. 150,000 to purchase a valid gorilla permit this festive season after it has been reduced from shs.250,000.
With available discounted gorilla permits, Uganda becomes more affordable gorilla safari destination than Rwanda where gorilla permits are issued at US Dollars 1500. Gorilla trekking adventures in Uganda are provided only in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. The discount offers are only available for new purchases and not for reschedules of already deposited on permits or purchases using credit letters.
Note, half of all the 1063 mountain gorillas that still exist on earth are in Uganda and they are inhabited within the 2 parks. It also accounts for over 21 habituated gorilla groups which can be explored on Uganda gorilla safari.
Chimpanzee promotional/discounted permits in Uganda
If you plan to go trek chimpanzees in Kibale Forest National Park, you will pay for chimpanzee permit at US Dollars 100 after it reduced from US Dollars 150 (foreign residents); US Dollars 150 and this reduced from US Dollars 200 (foreign non-residents) and shs. 100,000 for East African community citizens after it was reduced from shs. 150,000.
A side from Kibale Forest National Park, other places to trek chimpanzees in Uganda include Budongo Forest, Kalinzu Forest Reserve, Kyambura Gorge and Semuliki National Park.
