Day 1: Arrival in Kigali – Welcome to Rwanda!

Day 2: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park.

After a delicious breakfast, we’ll embark on a scenic journey to Nyungwe Forest National Park. Along the way, we’ll make stops at the poignant Mirambi Genocide Memorial Site and the captivating King’s Palace, offering insights into Rwanda’s history and culture.

Arrive at Nyungwe Safari Lodge, where you’ll enjoy a comfortable overnight stay.

Day 3: Chimpanzee Trekking in Nyungwe Forest.

Prepare for an exhilarating day as we embark on a chimpanzee trekking adventure in Nyungwe Forest. After a briefing at Gisakura Park Headquarters, we’ll venture into the dense forest, guided by experienced trackers.

Listen to the melodic sounds of nature and witness the incredible agility of these fascinating primates. Spend a magical hour observing them in their natural habitat before returning to the lodge for dinner and relaxation.

Day 4: Transfer to Bukavu in D.R. Congo.

After breakfast, we’ll cross the border into the Democratic Republic of Congo. Today, we’ll have the extraordinary opportunity to trek for lowland gorillas.

Along the way, we’ll visit the Bukavu Museum and explore interesting sites around Lake Kivu. Experience a memorable boat cruise to Idjwi Island, immersing yourself in the local culture and scenic beauty.

Retreat to Orchides Mbayo Lodge for a well-deserved overnight stay.

Day 5: Gorilla Trekking in Virunga.

Enjoy a hearty breakfast at the lodge before heading to Tshivanga Visitor Center for a briefing on gorilla trekking in Virunga National Park.

Accompanied by armed rangers, we’ll embark on an unforgettable trek through the lush forest, following gorilla trails. Marvel at the sheer presence of these majestic creatures and spend precious moments observing their behavior.

After an hour in their presence, we’ll return to the lodge for dinner and rest.

Day 6: Boat Cruise on Lake Kivu – Scenic Beauty and Cultural Delights.

Kick-start the day with a sumptuous breakfast, followed by a picturesque boat cruise on Lake Kivu. We’ll visit Coffee Island, where you can witness the traditional brewing of banana beer and explore the local banana gardens.

Enjoy a delectable lunch on the lakeshore before an afternoon drive to Ruhengeri-Kinigi. Overnight at Mt Gorilla View Lodge, surrounded by stunning natural landscapes.

Day 7: Mountain Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park.

After breakfast, get ready for the highlight of your safari – mountain gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park.

Join expert guides and armed rangers as we venture into the misty rainforest in search of these magnificent creatures. Witness their raw power and gentle nature up close, capturing unforgettable memories.

After the trek, bid farewell to the gorillas and proceed to Kigali city or the Airport, marking the end of our 7-day Rwanda Congo gorilla safari.
