Detailed Itinerary for the 6 Days Rwanda Wildlife Safari Package
Day 1: Transfer from the airport to the Kigali hotel
You meet and greet with the driver guide who will after take for a Kigali city tour. Enjoy half day Kigali city tour and you will have a chance to view the Genocide Memorial Centre at Gisozi which also takes a few hours.
This is an emotional visit and the important visit and the importance for one to realize what hardship Rwanda went through. Straddling many ridges and the valleys, Kigali has got lush hillsides, winding boulevards, bustling streets and it’s one of the most attractive capital cities in Africa as well as one of the cleanest and safest city in Africa.
Overnight at either; Hotel des Mille Collines, Hotel Chez Lando, Kigali Marriott Hotel, Top tower view Hotel Kigali or 2000 Hotel Downtown Kigali.
Day 2: Cultural Tour while Transferring to Nyungwe Forest National Park
Have breakfast and after depart for Butare which is the second largest city of Rwanda and is also regarded as the most intellectual city of Rwanda. It has got the national museum, many academic universities as well as the research institutions.
Along the way to Butare, you will visit Nyanza which is the former Mwami’s palace and the seat of the feudal monarchy. The palace has also been reconstructed to its 9th century state and shows the traditional dome.
You will then visit the National Museum that is one of the well set up if not the very finest ethnographic museum of East Africa. It’s also a good source of information on the cultural history of Rwanda and the region.

Day 3: Explore Nyungwe Forest National Park
You will start with a breakfast and a briefing at Uwinka Visitors Center. So depending on your personal interests, you will have a choice of different opportunities of exploring the largest high altitude rain forest of East Africa!
The other interests are the large social groups of the Angolan colobus which may be over 300 individuals. There are also the largest troops of this species that are known in the world! Nyungwe forest also counts 25% of the African Primates.
One of these groups is also semi habituated and we also recommend to start your adventure with a guided primate walk in search of the Angolan colobus monkeys, the rangers will tell you where the group is located and the hiking times many also vary as the group if traveling looking for food. Also be prepared to have a more active hike.
Another alternative might be a chimp trek instead in Nyungwe Forest.

Day 4: Transfer to Kinigi
Start the 4th day of our 6 Days Rwanda wildlife safari with a breakfast and transfer to Volcanoes National Park. Have a stopover in Huy Butare fort for souvenir shopping and then have lunch in Kigali as you head to Kinigi where you will arrive in the late afternoon.

Day 5: Mountain Gorilla Trekking and Transfer to Akagera
Have breakfast so early at the lodge and after report to the offices for the formal registration for the gorilla trek. After, you will be driven to Volcanoes National park were the trek will start escorted by the rangers. Gorilla trekking takes from 1 to 8 hours and at Afrik-Trek Holidays, we guarantee 99.9% chances of seeing gorillas.
You will be given 1 hour to stay with them as you are accompanied by the park rangers who have spent all their lives living with these creatures with in the forest. Gorilla trek will be as exciting as you also go through the vines, giant lobelias, and the moss covered hagenia trees that grow in the tropical climate.
Mountain Gorilla trekking is kinder active but worthwhile on meeting these gentle giants. The eagerness of your coming across with these apes will wipe away your complexity of the active trek.
You spend time taking pictures as you are watching the gorillas, view the adults feeding their young ones, resting and brushing as the young ones play from vines in the pleasurably playful display.
The guide will then drive you to Akagera National Park where you will spend the night.

Day 6: Game Drive in Akagera and Transfer back to Kigali for Departure
Just like the days before, wake up early in the morning for a hefty breakfast before getting on the car for wildlife game drive. The adventure will last for about 3 hours and then we drive back to Kigali city to end our 6 days Rwanda wildlife safari.
Akagera National Park is largest protected and only savannah park in Rwanda with hundreds of mammals, bird species and much more. You will have a chance to spot some of the African big five game (lions, elephants, leopards, rhinos and buffaloes) if not all, reptiles, bird species and other wildlife such as zebras, hyenas, giraffes, antelopes, etc.
