Day 1: Transfer from Kigali to Goma

Day 2: Nyiragongo Volcano Hike

Enjoy your hot cup of tea or coffee and after, connect to Kibati Patrol Post where you will be briefed and you begin your expedition to the summits of Nyiragongo Volcano.

This volcano features among a few most powerful volcanoes on earth with glowing lava lake. It is 20kms away from Goma Town and still remains as the most active volcano in Africa. It experienced volcanic eruption between 1997, 2002 and 2021.

A hike to the summits of this volcano begin from elevation 1989m to 3470m and this may take you 4-6 hours depending on your speed of hiking. Along the way, you will come across primates, birds and unique flora then at the summit, you will be amazed by the bubbling lava lake.

Day 3: Descend from Nyiragongo Volcano

You will have a cup of tea or coffee early in the morning and later, you will descend back from Nyiragongo Volcano to where you started your hike the previous day while enjoying the breathtaking view of Lake Kivu, lush rainforest among others.

Meet your driver guide who will drive you to a lodge of your choice to chill, dine and spend a night.

Day 4: Gorilla Trekking in the Virunga National Park

Since this is the day everyone has been waiting for, you will be expected to wake early enough to start preparation by ensuring you put on your long-sleeved shirt/t-shirt, trousers, socks, hiking boots and you have your camera, insect repellent, rain jacket ready and after, you will enjoy your cup of tea or coffee.

Before you leave the lodge do not forget energy giving snacks/packed lunch and bottled water. Later, you will head to Bukima Patrol Station for briefing on the set safety measures for gorilla trekking and also to be allocated to a group of gorillas to trek in about 8 people.

After, you will hit the jungles together with park ranger guide and trackers perhaps joined by porters to look out for these unique creatures in the wild and you will take about 2-7 hours which also includes one hour of magical encounter with the mountain gorillas.

However, the length of gorilla trek depends on number of factors including your speed of hiking, nature of habitat and where these apes are in the course of the day. After your magical encounter, photography and exploring their behaviors, you will return to the lodge to relax, dine and spend a night.
