1.     It is a Must to fill the Passenger Locator Form

Before you consider embarking on a Rwanda safari or any other business, it is a must for every traveler to fill the passenger locator form. He or she is required to upload his or her negative corona virus test certificate on the Rwanda Biometrical Centre website: www.rbc.gov.rw.

2.     It is Mandatory for all Travelers to Present a Negative RT-PCR test on Arrival

Negative RT-PCR test report is mandatory for everyone to Visit Rwanda to present upon arrival at Kigali International Airport. Note, the SARS-CoV2 Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) is the only recommended test and should be carried out 120 hours before departure. This means, you should test negative of covid-19 5 days to your date of flight to Rwanda. Note, the Rapid Diagnostics Test (RDTs) and other related tested aren’t accepted in Rwanda.

3.     COVID-19 Test upon Arrival is Mandatory @ US Dollars 60

Covid-19 tests should also be taken on arrival at Kigali Airport. There is covid-19 testing center at Kigali International Airport established by the Rwanda Biomedical Centre. Visitors who want to Visit Rwanda are required carryout the ERT-PCR and the results will be ready within 24 hours. A visitor can be quarantined at his or her designated hotel as it is directed by the Rwanda government.

4.     Wait for your Results at Transit Hotels

Once you are done with covid-19 test at Kigali airport, you can be transferred to your hotel in which you will have 24 hours of waiting for your results. The Rwanda government has selected particular hotel facilities for this purpose and rates range from US Dollars 30 to US Dollars 450.

5.     A Visitor who Tests Positive of Covid-19 shall Undergo Treatment at his or her Cost.

A visitor who tests positive for corona virus on arrival at Kigali airport, he or she must undergo treatment but his or her own cost. He or she shall not be permitted to move to the hospital or fly back. Travelers who test negative for covid-19 are free to leave their hotel premises and proceed with their safari activities when they Visit Rwanda safari destinations. Please, it is essential to have international travel insurance in case of emergencies.

6.     Screening on Land Borders is Mandatory

Visitors who plan to Visit Rwanda through its land borders must undergo a mandatory temperature screening. Those with higher temperatures shall be required to stay back and undergo intense testing. Besides temperature screening, visitors will also undergo covid-19 testing at the respective hotels at a cost of US Dollars 60.

7.     Negative Corona Virus Results are Accepted before Departure

All visitors getting out of Rwanda must present negative corona virus results and should be conducted 5 days prior departure. The results should be proved by the Rwanda Biomedical center. You are encouraged to book and pay for your test about 2 days prior to avoid any inconveniences.

8.     Rwandese are Warm Welcoming

9.     Plastic Bags are Never Accepted

While on Rwanda safari holiday, throwing plastic bags or bottles is highly prohibited. Upon arrival at Kigali airport, visitors’ luggage is thoroughly checked for any plastic bags and in case they are found, you may incur a cost on it amounting to US Dollars 150. If the store owner is found keeping them, he or she can face about 1 year of imprisonment. Therefore, try as much as possible to keep your plastic bags back at home.
